Leeds United man Patrick Bamford discusses his comeback

Leeds United man Patrick Bamford believes that his dad won’t be happy with him because of his celebration against Brentford.

The 28-year-old made his long-awaited return from injury during the Whites’ 2-2 draw with the Bees.

He scored a last-minute equaliser and removed his shirt during the celebrations.

However, he jokingly admitted that he doesn’t think his dad would have been too happy.

Speaking to the BBC after the game, the England striker said: “I think for me it was important to get back on the pitch because, let’s be honest, if I hadn’t scored the goal, I didn’t have a great performance.

“I was rusty because I had been out for a while.

“I think my dad’s going to kill me for taking my shirt off; it was just one of [those] moments you get called up in.”

Bamford delighted.

This is what Leeds have missed in the time Bamford has been out of action, someone who can pop up in the right place at the right time to grab an important goal.

The 28-year-old didn’t really do a lot when he came off the bench, but he was alive at the end, and when Luke Ayling’s header reached him, he was ready.

It was a simple finish, but in the grand scheme of things, this could prove to be a crucial point for the Whites as they move further and further away from the relegation zone.

Now that pretty much everyone is back for Marcelo Bielsa’s side, we would expect to see the Whites climb up the table.

If Bamford can stay fit, he proved last season that he knows where the goal is in the Premier League, and he could go on to have a fantastic season and hopefully push the Whites on up the table.
