Leeds United man Jamie Shackleton has revealed that he aims to keep improving this season

Leeds United midfielder Jamie Shackleton has revealed that he believes he has improved as a footballer over the last year and wants to keep getting better.

Speaking to Adam Pope from the BBC, the 21-year-old went into great detail about various topics, but he revealed that he thinks he has improved as a player.

Shackleton has received quite a bit of praise from Whites fans this season for making an impact off the bench, and it was good to hear him talk about many topics.

He said: “It is a major part of my game [being tenacious], but you can’t just have energy and not [have] other skillsets.

“So, I would say I have improved my game in other areas. That’s always my aim to keep on improving as seasons and months go by.

“As I’ve said, it’s always the aim to keep improving, and one way of improving is playing more games, and that’s the best way to improve.

“That is the aim for the coming months and this season.”

Shackleton sounds determined.

Certainly, it seems as if Shackleton is determined to make this the year that he stamps his authority on the first team.

Given that he is only 21, he has made over 60 first-team appearances for the Whites but has never grabbed a position in Marcelo Bielsa’s squad through niggly little injuries.

Hopefully, this will be the season in which he makes a real impact on the first team and starts to force his way to the front of Bielsa’s plans.

Certainly, he has started the season well, and we hope that he remains fit and continues to contribute to the first team.

Remember, this is a player who has been described as “energetic” by Bielsa in the past [Leeds Live].

Now is his chance to grab a regular first-team spot, and it seems as if he realises that now.
