Leeds United make new Junior Firpo announcement
Leeds United are determined to keep Junior Firpo at Elland Road, with his contract expiring as he prepares for a busy summer.
The former Real Betis defender was an important force at the back as the Whites lifted the Championship, but has been linked with a move back to his former club.
Several clubs are said to be interested in acquiring the 28-year-old’s services despite Leeds gaining promotion to the Premier League, with only days left on his current deal.
Despite this, the Whites hope to have him on board next season and have offered supporters a new update ahead of the summer break.

Firpo called up by the Dominican Republic for International duty
Leeds aim to take a proactive approach with Firpo and will hope to offer him a contract too tempting to turn down.
The left-back was a key component for the Whites this season and was only second to Manor Solomon in assists despite operating at left-back.
2024/25 | Games | Goals | Assists | Minutes |
Junior Firpo | 35 | 4 | 10 | 2.719′ |
However, Leeds supporters may need to wait a little longer to see if the defender will be a part of their Premier League squad.
In a recent post on X (21 May), Leeds United announced that Firpo would be representing the Dominican Republic during the upcoming international break.
Leeds prepare for a big summer transfer window
Firpo is not the only player that Leeds are hoping to keep this summer, as they prepare for a successful season in the Premier League.
Indeed, Leeds will be anxiously watching for developments with Solomon, after the Tottenham loanee helped secure the title with a winner against Plymouth Argyle.
Leeds remain keen on signing him this summer, but there has already been interest from elsewhere.
The Whites have also been linked with a move for Everton star Abdoulaye Doucoure, who will leave Everton on a free transfer.
With Josuha Guilavogui, who was a key part of Leeds’ promotion campaign, set to depart as a free agent, the Whites will need a couple of extra bodies in their midfield.
Now, with the summer transfer window set to open in the coming weeks, Leeds will have to make all the right moves to have any chance of surviving the Premier League.
Will Firpo be part of that? Only time will tell.
