Leeds United make hire decision on Carlos Corberan after talks with West Brom manager
Leeds United have decided against the appointment of West Brom boss Carlos Corberan, according to The Sun.
The newspaper reported in its online edition (20 June) that talks have been held with Corberan, but the club have now decided against his appointment.
This is due to the fact that Leeds would prefer to appoint a manager not already contracted with a club so that they don’t have to pay a compensation fee.

Corberan was a coach with Leeds previously during Marcelo Bielsa’s reign at Elland Road and the Spaniard was a favourite among fans to make a return to the club.
The report states that the three front-runners for the job currently are Patrick Vieira, Scott Parker and Daniel Farke.
Cheap
If Leeds’ reported reasoning for not wanting to appoint Corberan is true, then it is a cheap excuse, especially given that the Spaniard was a favourite among fans. The club should be going all out for their number one target in order to reclaim Premier League status in their first attempt, not making a low-cost appointment.
The former Huddersfield Town boss previously worked at Leeds and would have therefore already known the ins and outs of the club, which would have made his transition back to the club a smooth one.

He enjoyed an impressive season with the Baggies and took them just three points off a play-off spot. With a better squad and more financial backing, which the 49ers Enterprises acquisition of the club should bring, he would have been in with a fantastic chance of getting Leeds United promoted straight back to the top flight.
However, now that talks have broken down with Corberan and the club look set to appoint someone else, fans will have to get behind that someone and hope the club don’t live to regret the decision.
A cheap decision in the short term could prove very costly if the club miss out on promotion.
