Leeds United make first move to sign Ola Aina from Torino

Leeds United have made the first move to sign Torino wing-back Ola Aina, according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport

The famous pink Italian newspaper (9 June, page 14) reports that the Whites are have made an approach through international intermediaries in the last few hours to secure the signing of the 25-year-old wing back.

The Whites could face strong competition from other club as he is well known in England, having come through Chelsea’s youth set-up.

Unlikely

In 2020-21, Aina joined Fulham on loan where he made 33 appearances. The player’s future is open to serious discussion, but the club do not want to sell him at the moment.

The right-back still has a year left on his deal. It means, he could leave as a free agent next summer, and Torino could be willing to cash in on him.

Leeds have already secured a deal Rasmus Kristensen on Wednesday (8 June), and they certainly won’t require another right wing-back.

It is highly possible that the player’s agent is trying to get a bumper deal from the club or get him out of the club, and Leeds get mentioned, as they were previously interested.

The Whites have made a strong start to the transfer window as Jesse Marsch looks to sculpt the squad to his own taste.

He wants to add depth in the squad, but surely that rules out signing another right-back where other areas of the pitch need attention.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites have been told to seal a superstar signing by Harry Redknapp.
