Leeds United make Daniel Farke sack decision after promotion heartbreak

Daniel Farke will remain as Leeds United manager next season after missing out on promotion to the Premier League, according to Justin Allen.

The Sun journalist reported via X on Tuesday (28 May) that the German will be in charge at Elland Road next season and has the full backing of the club’s ownership.

Leeds are the first Championship team in history not to be promoted with 90 points, having fallen at the last hurdle in a 1-0 defeat to Southampton in the play-off final.

“I understand Daniel Farke will remain as Leeds manager next season and has the club owners’ full support,” Allen wrote.

Daniel Farke to remain as Leeds United manager

Not only does Farke have the full backing at Elland Road, but also the majority of the fanbase believes in his ideas and ideologies despite missing out on promotion back to the Premier League.

Farke has an abundance of experience in the second tier of English football, having led Norwich City to the Premier League on two separate occasions and will undoubtedly do it again for the Whites.

It is not every season that a three-way race forms at the top of the Championship table as it did between Leeds, Ipswich Town and Leicester City. All three slipped up, just Leeds’ was more devastating.

While some may be displeased with the news, they would struggle to find a replacement to do a better job than Farke, having only missed out on promotion by six points.

The season could have finished very differently for the Whites had they not experienced a drastic drop in form in the last few weeks, which seemed to play mind games in the play-off final.

Of course, if Leeds are unable to secure promotion next season, more fans will question whether Farke is the right man for the job. Until then, however, he will be in charge at Elland Road.
