Leeds United ‘major’ development emerges as 49ers make Sam Allardyce decision

The San Francisco 49ers were heavily involved in the sacking of Javi Gracia and the appointment of Sam Allardyce at Leeds United, according to the Daily Mail.

The Mail claim (print edition, pg 111, 6 May) that Paraag Marathe is now involved in the “major” decisions at Elland Road.

It’s believed the 49ers were instrumental in the appointment of Allardyce as they gear up to complete a full takeover of the club.

It’s understood that Leeds’ value will drop by around £220million if they are relegated to the Championship. At present, the 49ers’ “primary consideration” is ensuring Premier League survival.

Pressure on

The pressure is now firmly on Allardyce to deliver. The former West Brom boss has been given an extremely tough task, but he will be relishing the challenge. The 49ers weren’t expecting a situation like this. After the level of expenditure in the summer, did they really anticipate a relegation battle?

The appointment of Allardyce is one last show of desperation, but it was required. Under Gracia’s stewardship, Leeds were only heading one way. With four games remaining, there’s at least a chance of a reaction from the players.

Saturday’s fixture against Manchester City is as tough as they come. No one is expecting anything against Pep Guardiola’s side, but due to Leeds’ position, this isn’t a free hit. Staying in the game for as long as possible and looking to use Willy Gnonto and Crysencio Summerville’s pace is a must.

With Newcastle to come, things don’t get any easier. It’s going to take a piece of Allardyce magic to drag the Whites out of this mess.
