Leeds United: Luke Ayling sends message to Daniel James after what he did for Wales

Leeds United attacker Daniel James has received a message from Middlesbrough loanee Luke Ayling.

The message comes after the former scored as he earned his 50th cap for Wales against Finland on Thursday (21 March).

James came off the bench to score in the 4-1 Euro 2024 play-off semi-final clash at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Taking to Instagram to celebrate the double achievement, James posted: “What an honour to represent my country for the 50th time and to mark it with a goal! On to Tuesday,” with Ayling commenting: “Love it DJ.”

Leeds United stars shine as Wales clinch play-off final spot

The current international break features a long list of friendlies, with players travelling all over the globe with their respective nations.

But Wales are competing for something much more important, with Rob Page’s side now into the Euro 2024 play-off final.

And in a positive for his players and indeed Daniel Farke, given how he has four players in the Wales squad, their games are being played in Cardiff.

The same stadium plays host to the final clash against Poland, with a lucrative spot in this summer’s tournament up for grabs.

Whether Elland Road ace James starts or not remains to be seen, with another substitute appearance likely given how it worked well last time out.

His Leeds teammates certainly played important roles, and are expected to do the same again, with defensive duo Joe Rodon and Connor Roberts and versatile midfield ace Ethan Ampadu playing the entire 90 minutes against Finland.
