Luke Ayling returned to Leeds United for the first time since his January exit after he was pictured at the pub named after him in tribute to his time at the club.

As shared on X and reposted by Leeds Live journalist Beren Cross [17 March], the Leeds legend was spotted surrounded by fans in his first return to his former club.

Ayling, currently on loan at Middlesbrough, was present at the newly-rebranded "Luke Ale Inn" - formerly the Old Peacock - speaking with fans ahead of the Championship clash with Millwall.

Cross, responding to the image on X, wrote: "Tremendous. Luke Ayling in the Luke Ale Inn."

Returning to the pub and Elland Road for the first time since joining Middlesbrough, Ayling was mobbed by supporters angling to take pictures and likely thank him for his services to the club, something they had so far been unable to do.

Having left the club on loan in January, with his contract set to expire at the end of the current season, it was announced that he would be leaving Elland Road for good at the end of the season despite rumours he could be handed a new deal.

After departing, Ayling told fans "I'll be back", explaining that it was an honour to have had the pub named after him, and today he fulfilled his promise to the supporters as he finally made his return.

Since his exit, Ayling has often been vocal about developments made at Leeds, most recently explaining his decision to leave the club amid high praise for young Archie Gray who has been a mainstay in Ayling's right-back position.
