Leeds United: Luke Ayling makes rallying promotion cry at awards ceremony

Luke Ayling has shared his belief that Leeds United will get promoted while at the club’s awards ceremony, despite being on loan at Middlesbrough.

The right-back moved up North in the January transfer window, signing for Boro on loan for the remainder of the season.

Although he isn’t part of the current squad, he made an appearance at the Whites’ end-of-season awards. In a video posted to Leeds United’s X, he got involved alongside Liam Cooper and Stuart Dallas.

He said: “Time for these boys to show what they can do, they’re a great team. I’m pretty sure they’ll get promoted.”

Will Leeds United get promoted?

As it stands, Daniel Farke’s side are third in the table but are just a point off second and two off Ipswich Town in top spot.

With that being said, all three sides are in a bad vein of form which sees each of them winless in their last two Championship games.

The Whites have to get the better of Middlesbrough and QPR before a potential straight shootout for promotion with Southampton.

Simply put, Leeds’ stars have to step up. Crycensio Summerville, Georgino Rutter etc. must show their class and make it count.

The last three games: loss, draw, and loss just aren’t good enough. Scoring just one goal with the embarrassment of attacking riches is poor.

Moving into the Middlesbrough game on Monday night (22 April) a nine-day break will hopefully prove helpful to the players.

Because of this run of form, they are at the mercy of their promotion rivals as to whether they earn promotion. If they don’t better the results of Leicester and Ipswich, the playoffs await.
