Luciano Becchio takes to social media after what Leeds United fans chanted
Leeds United fans were in a buoyant mood at Elland Road on Monday as the Whites beat Bristol City 4-0.
The Leeds faithful had already seen Daniel Farke’s men clinch promotion to the Premier League thanks to their 6-0 win over Stoke City on 21 April.
But Monday’s victory over Bristol City saw the Whites return to the top of the Championship table with just one game remaining.
A win over Plymouth on Saturday would see the West Yorkshire giants clinch the second-tier title and reach the 100-point mark.

Becchio thanks Leeds fans for their chants against Bristol City
The Elland Road faithful gave their side’s current players a brilliant reception as Farke’s men beat the Robins to secure their 28th win of the Championship season.
Opponent | Result |
Preston (H) | 2-1 W |
Oxford (A) | 0-1 W |
Stoke (H) | 6-0 W |
Bristol City (H) | 4-0 W |
Leeds supporters chanted the names of many former favourites, including cult hero Luciano Becchio, as the Whites hammered Liam Manning’s side.
The 41-year-old responded via his Instagram story (28 April): “Thank you for always remembering me. Love you all,” alongside a blue heart emoji and a yellow heart emoji.

Leeds must enjoy a strong transfer window
The Whites have enjoyed a stellar Championship season, and their class has been epitomised by the fact that they have scored 10 goals in their last two games without reply.
Farke’s men can do their excellent season justice by winning the second-tier title and reaching 100 points with a victory over all-but-relegated Plymouth on Saturday.
But while Leeds have proven they are too good for the Championship this season, the West Yorkshire outfit need to bolster their ranks in the summer transfer window and add Premier League quality to their ranks.
With that in mind, both Farke and the Whites owners, 49ers Enterprises, have identified Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff as a transfer target.
Longstaff boasts bags of Premier League experience, but has fallen down Eddie Howe’s pecking order while the Magpies chase Champions League football.
Meanwhile, the West Yorkshire giants are also keen on signing River Plate goalkeeper Conan Ledesma.
