Leeds United look set to land three new players as January window nears end

It promises to be a busy end to the transfer window for Leeds United – and as many as three new players could come through the front door at Elland Road.

Jesse Marsch has been extremely active in the window to date, with the club breaking their transfer record for Hoffenheim striker Georginio Rutter, and also bringing RB Salzburg captain Max Wober to Elland Road.

Nevertheless, there are still six days remaining and plenty of time for the Yorkshire side to wrap up three more deals to conclude an impressive January.

Tribune de Geneve suggested (17 January) 17-year-old defender Diogo Monteiro has already visited Thorp Arch in recent weeks. The Whites can’t officially announce the signing of the Servette until he turns 18 on 28 January.

However, The Athletic’s Phil Hay (Phil Hay Show,23 January) has claimed it’s a deal which the club should formally complete in the coming days.

Another player who is reportedly close to coming through the door at Elland Road is Club Brugge goalkeeper Senne Lammens. Belgium journalist Tomas Taecke claimed (Twitter, 8 January) the young shot-stopper was on his way to Leeds, although, a deal is yet to materialise.

The latest update on the 20-year-old’s future has come from Club Brugge’s goalkeeping coach Peter Mollez, who has suggested Lammens wants to leave the Jupiler League club (Belgian media outlet KW, 20 January).

The final player, who is probably most likely to finalise his move to the Yorkshire side, is Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie. 90min report (25 January) the 24-year-old is set to sign for Leeds barring any last-minute issues, as Marsch looks to bolster his options in the centre of the park.

It’s been a hectic couple of weeks – and if the board can get these three deals over the line, it would’ve been a very successful January.
