Leeds United loanee Tyler Roberts already out through injury
Tyler Roberts has left Leeds United to join Queens Park Rangers on loan to try and find his form again but he has already suffered a setback.
R’s manager Michael Beale revealed in his pre-match press conference that the 24-year-old will miss their first game of the Championship season away at Blackburn Rovers having only joined the club on 6 July.
He is the only QPR player not in training after he also missed a large portion of the 2021-22 Premier League campaign at Elland Road with a thigh problem.
“As of today, everyone bar Tyler Roberts has trained,” Beale said to West London Sport. “He has a slight issue that I don’t want to risk.
“He did start the week training with us but I didn’t think he looked right. It is the right call for us just to slow down and make sure he is ready.
“We thought he would be OK and although he hasn’t had a setback or re-injured it, we just think he needs a little bit more fitness so he has trained away from the group in isolation.”
Typical
When Jesse Marsch really needed the Welshman to play week in, week out at a very high level, he has gone and got himself ruled out of his first game at his new club.

This move was perhaps his last chance to impress the folks at Elland Road and earn himself an extended stay in Yorkshire but if this is how the season starts, it could be a messy one for Roberts.
The boss will be aware of the problems and should be checking in regularly with him and fellow Championship loanees Jamie Shackleton and Charlie Cresswellm both at Millwall, but he has bigger fish to fry at the moment.
He is facing the prospect of starting the new Premier League season without a recognised left-back at the club and he needs his and his team’s focus to be on getting a player through the door before Wolves turn up to LS11 on 6 August.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites should now be favourites to sign this striker with another Premier League side dropping out of the race.
