Leeds United loanee Cody Drameh has Steve Morison delighted he cannot be recalled

Leeds United youngster Cody Drameh has been lauded by his loan manager Steve Morison following his excellent display for Cardiff City last night.

The 20-year-old was in imperious form as the Bluebirds thrashed Peterborough United 4-0, delivering what Wales Online called a “scintillating” performance that included an “astonishing” assist for the third goal.

The wing-back ran from mid-way inside his own half and beat a man down the flank before crossing for Jordan Hugill to convert in the second half.

Morison believes that now the loanee has adjusted to the Championship he is performing to his best.

After the match the Cardiff manager said, via Wales Online: “Barnsley was a horrible game. He’d never experienced anything like that and he came in with a couple of last ditch tackles right at the death of the game, which was phenomenal.

“Tonight? [scoffs]. It’s a good thing they can’t call him back after that because he was outstanding.

“If he keeps playing like that. They’ll have some player on their hands next year.

“If they don’t, I’ll be the first to put my hand in the air to ask if I can have him back.”

Long-term gain

Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa had not wanted his cover for the right-back position to leave during the January transfer window.

With the club suffering so badly on the injury front this season, and ultimately not bringing in signings last month, it was a risk.

The player however felt he needed to get more first team football and was keen to make the move.

And it appears the short-term loss may turn into a long-term gain at Elland Road if Drameh’s current loan form continues for the rest of the season.

It seems that in this instance the player knew best as he has hit the ground running in the Welsh capital and should return to Yorkshire a better asset because of it.

As long as his parent club continue to battle as they are currently, and maintain their place in the Premier League, next season could be a breakout year.
