Leeds United loan man Ian Poveda makes breakthrough
Leeds United winger Ian Poveda appears to have made his breakthrough for Blackburn Rovers.
In a new report assessing the Whites’ loan men, the Yorkshire Evening Post claim that the 21-year-old played a “starring role” in Rovers’ 3-1 win over Sheffield United.
Poveda made just his seventh appearance of the season, and he managed to get his first goal as well as provide an assist in a man of the match display.
This could go down as a very important game in both Poveda’s short and long-term career as he has to use this and push on now.
Huge weekend for Poveda.
The former Manchester City winger has had a rough time of it so far at Ewood Park, but after Blackburn were thrashed 7-0 by Fulham, Tony Mowbray made the changes.
This gave Poveda his chance in the starting XI, and he certainly made the most of it.
This is what the winger can do, and hopefully, he can now become a key part of Rovers’ side.
If this is the game in which he turns his Blackburn career around then, he could still have a chance of making it in the Premier League with Leeds.
However, before he can think about that, he must focus on securing a regular starting spot in Mowbray’s side, and he is going to do that by continuing to score and assist.
We will be watching Poveda very closely and hoping that he can build on this brilliant display on Saturday.
In other Leeds United news, a senior figure at Elland Road has just signed a new deal.
