Leeds United linked Sander Berge is ideal replacement for Kalvin Phillips
Sander Berge has been “earmarked” as a potential Kalvin Phillips replacement and the Sheffield United man could be a hit at Leeds United.
As revealed by Give Me Sport’s Dean Jones on Thursday 16 June Jesse Marsch is eyeing up the 24-year-old Norwegian midfielder as a potential replacement for Phillips.
As reported by 90min on Thursday 16 June, Manchester City are working on a deal for Phillips ahead of a summer move.
Statistically, Berge has had a superb season for Leeds’ Yorkshire rivals and could give the Whites a goal-scoring threat from midfield that Phillips doesn’t provide.
The Norwegian midfielder offers a far better attacking output than Phillips whilst still playing in a similar position to the England man.
As per Wyscout Berge averages nearly four times as many attacking actions per 90 than Berge with the 24-year-old Sheffield United star averaging 0.18 goals each match which is considerably higher than Phillips’ 0.03.

However, Phillips’ best attributes are not in an attacking sense as we all know.
Although, Berge doesn’t actually rank too far behind Phillips in terms of some important defensive statistics.
Berge has a higher defensive win percentage than the Leeds man with 64% as well as being far more dominant in the air with a 50% aerial duel success rate compared to Phillips’ 38%.
The Elland Road faithful will probably look at the rumour of Berge being Phillips’ replacement and be slightly underwhelmed.
However, the Sheffield United man has all the attributes to add a new dimension to the Whites’ midfield and at 24 could still develop into an accomplished Premier League player.
Don’t dismiss this one too quickly Whites fans.
