Leeds United linked Manchester City star Kalvin Phillips spotted at Wembley as footage emerges
Leeds United legend and Manchester City star Kalvin Phillips was spotted at Wembley as the Whites were beaten by Southampton in the playoff final.
Daniel Farke’s side suffered a 1-0 defeat which will see them stay in the second tier for a second season despite accumulating 90 points in the regular season.
A move for ex-midfielder Phillips has been linked this summer after his struggles at the Etihad and while on loan at West Ham this season, and the boyhood Whites fan was spotted amongst the crowd outside the stadium after the defeat in video footage posted by X account JSelby123 (26 May).
Kalvin Phillips return dream surely dead after Leeds United defeat
A busy summer at the club was always expected this summer, but with Championship football confirmed for the new season it now seems like plans may have to change.
Plenty of the top players at the club are now going to be heavily targeted by top flight clubs during the transfer window, while potential targets that had been lined up are going to be more difficult to secure.
One player who falls into that latter category is Phillips, who is far too good to be playing in the second tier despite his love for the club and recent struggles.
Manchester City are going to want a big chunk of the £40million+ they spent to sign Phillips back and the Whites now simply aren’t in a position to get a deal done.
But he will always love the club, and the fans will always love him for what he gave during his time there so it’s nice to see that connection still exists.
In other Leeds news, the club want to sign a midfielder with 37 goal involvements this season after he won a cup on Saturday.
