Leeds United news: Expected winner named for Luton defender Ryan Giles vs Cardiff and Hull in January transfer window
Leeds United are at “serious risk” of missing on out Luton Town full-back Ryan Giles with Hull City leading the race to sign him, according to TEAMtalk.
The outlet reported via their website on 21 January that the Whites and fellow suitors Cardiff, as well as various other interested parties, have fallen behind the Tigers in the race for defender.
Luton’s record signing looks set to move on in the January transfer window just months after arriving at the promoted Premier League side from Wolves, where he made just a single senior appearance amid eight loan moves to seven different clubs.
He has featured only 11 times in the top flight so far under Rob Edwards though, and while Daniel Farke refused to address possible interest in the 23-year-old this month [Adam Pope, 11 January] he is reportedly a target at Elland Road according to talkSPORT (18 January).

With three weeks of the transfer window gone and full-back only having become more of a pressing concern it doesn’t look like the Whites are worried enough to force the issue.
It appears the club are content to wait until the final days of the month and look to take advantage of opportunities that arise as knock-on effects start to emerge from other moves.
That is believed to be the thinking behind interest in Tottenham’s Ben Davies, who in many ways looks like the ideal signing for Daniel Farke this month, given his ability to nail down the left-back spot or contribute in the centre.
But it is surely a long shot to bring in a player who has featured heavily for a Spurs side that sits fifth in the Premier League, albeit as a result of injuries and suspensions.

If he proves out of reach it could be a concern that alternatives such as Giles appear to be heading elsewhere in the mean time.
Junior Firpo had a good game as Leeds United beat Preston North End 2-1 at Elland Road on Sunday, but he has struggled to stay fit for any length of time since his move from Barcelona two summers ago, and Sam Byram is also a concern with injuries.
In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay has shared a response to his questions over “anger” at Elland Road after a player signed a deal to confirm his permanent departure.
