Leeds United are still keen on making a move for Blackburn Rovers attacker Ben Brereton-Diaz in the final week of the transfer window, according to Alan Nixon.
The Sun journalist has reported that a move may only happen for the Chilean international should someone leave Elland Road before the deadline next Wednesday.
Dan James has been heavily linked with Spurs over the past 48 hours, with Everton now set to rival Leeds for the signing of Brereton-Diaz this week.
Writing on his official Patreon page on Tuesday [22 August], Nixon shared what could happen should the Welsh flyer pack his bags and leave Elland Road.
“Leeds United are also keen on Brereton Diaz but may need to sell to make a vacancy in their squad,” he wrote.
“With Dan James wanted by Tottenham a possible exit.”
Leeds always have a long list of players on his list and is ready to make his move if they become available.
Brereton-Diaz is in the final year of his deal at Ewood Park and is said to have informed them that he is not interested in sitting down to potentially extend that.
Everton will be interesting to watch, given their desperate need for a new striker which is even bigger than ours at this moment in time as they play wingers out of position.
Elland Road is a much more attractive proposition at this stage though under Jesse Marsch, and if a cut-price deal comes along in the coming days, don’t be surprised if we take it.
That is if we sell James or not, and that shouldn’t happen given how well we have started this season with the squad depth clearly helping already.
Sales or not, the Whites need to bring in that attacker and would we turn down Brereton-Diaz? We don’t think so.
