Leeds United: Junior Firpo given Christmas timeline for return after new injury blow
Leeds United ace Junior Firpo is expected to be ruled out until Christmas after suffering another injury blow in the 3-1 victory against Swansea, according to the Yorkshire Post.
The newspaper shared via their website [5 December] that the left-back suffered an injury to his hamstring shortly after making his return to the side from another long-term problem.
Firpo has made just three appearances for Daniel Farke’s side so far this season as his battle with injury issues continues, and a Christmas timeline now puts that return further away.

Lucky there are options
Luckily for Firpo, and for Leeds, the emergence of Sam Byram as a key player in Farke’s side has allowed the defender’s lack of presence not to have too much impact. With Pascal Struijk, Dejd Spence and Jamie Shackleton also able to fill in if needed, Firpo hasn’t been missed.
It has been reported that he could be looking to leave Elland Road in January, and given his lack of availability so far this season, it wouldn’t be imagined that too many at Leeds would be sad to see him go, getting his wages off the bill.
Byram has stepped up for Farke this season and although he provides a different style to Firpo, has cemented his place as the first-choice in his position. His more defensive-minded approach and natural right-footedness lend the boss a new angle to build out of defence.

Firpo has never really made an impact at Elland Road even in the Premier League, and his lack of games in the Championship will have come as a disappointment to all involved, but with the latest injury blow, it may be time to move on.
