Leeds United: Jonathan Hogg reacts to red card in Huddersfield Town clash

Jonathan Hogg has apologised in the Huddersfield Town dressing room after his red card in the 1-1 draw against Leeds United on Saturday 2 March.

Hogg was sent off for two yellow cards after an elbow on Junior Firpo, as Adam Pope shared his reaction to a needless attack.

Patrick Bamford rescued a point at the John Smith’s Stadium but Daniel Farke will have been scratching his head after not leaving with all three.

BBC journalist Pope shared the reaction of Hogg on X: “Hogg apologised for needlessly getting himself sent off.”

Leeds United to regret dropped points in the Championship?

It was a slow, tired performance from Leeds, who just couldn’t get to grips as Huddersfield stuck to their game plan of disrupting any momentum throughout.

There were plenty of shocking fouls throughout, mainly on Crysencio Summerville, but the Hogg elbow on Firpo was embarrassing and he was lucky it was not a straight red.

Leeds cannot use any of the above as an excuse though, and they have to get straight back on the horse against Stoke next time out on 5 March.

The Championship is relentless, we all know this and the nine wins in a row before this game now mean little, although they have propelled Leeds up the table.

If another run like that is started against Stoke next time out, we can all start dreaming of the Premier League again, but this game proves that nothing can be taken for granted.

Three points are all that will do right now, let’s hope that returns at Elland Road.
