Joel Piroe makes admission to Leeds United fans on Instagram after 0-0 v Sheffield Wednesday
Joel Piroe has thanked Leeds United supporters for their welcome on his home debut, but admits the result against Sheffield Wednesday was not what he was anticipating.
The recent signing from Swansea City, who could set Leeds back up to £16m when add-ons are factored in, played a full part in the stalemate at Elland Road on Saturday [2 September].
Piroe was unable to help his side to victory and hopes things turn out differently for his side when they take on Millwall on their return to Championship action.

“Thanks for the welcome at Elland Road,” Piroe posted on Instagram late on Saturday [2 September].
“But let’s agree that we take the three points next time!”
Ineffective
Piroe got off the mark for his new club with a strike in the 4-3 win over Ipswich Town on 26 August, but he was kept quiet by erstwhile bottom side Sheffield Wednesday.
Daniel Farke fielded the Dutchman in an attacking midfield position against Wednesday, with the ineffective Georginio Rutter leading the line.
Piroe had two shots, neither of which found the target, and had just 40 touches of the ball [WhoScored].

To put that figure into some context, nine other Leeds players saw more of the ball, including some who did not play the whole game.
On that basis, it may well be that Farke moves Piroe into a more advanced position, likely at the expense of Rutter, come the Millwall match in two weeks’ time.
Piroe is a natural goalscorer and must therefore be used to his strengths.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are reportedly open to offers for one of their players ahead of the January transfer window opening.
