Jesse Marsch could end up sacked at Leeds United despite wins v Bournemouth and Liverpool

Jesse Marsch could end up being sacked at Leeds United despite massive Premier League wins against Bournemouth and Liverpool, according to Daily Mail journalist Chris Wheeler.

Manic and frantic last-ditch wins have been memorable for the Whites but whether it’s sustainable is another question altogether.

Wheeler admitted that the American needs to tread lightly in his quest for an all-out pressing machine, and a refusal to do so could spell the end, just as it did for Marcelo Bielsa.

“It’s a bold approach and one that will result in more games like this one, but Marsch needs to be careful,” said Wheeler as quoted by the Daily Mail.

“After all, a refusal to compromise on attacking principles was the undoing of predecessor Marcelo Bielsa.”

True.

Wheeler’s comments do ring true, Leeds United have only been inches away from dropping points in their last two games and things could be looking very different right now.

Despite this, six points have been won and all the positives from Marsch’s heavy-pressing football have been on display.

Tightening up the Whites’ defence needs to be Marsch’s priority during the World Cup break, they look far too open and vulnerable.

If he can manage to do this, however, the future for the American at Elland Road starts to look a lot brighter.

Any Leeds fan would have snatched your hand off if someone said they’d have taken six points from their last two Premier League games.

Marsch deserves some credit for this, a win is a win at the end of the day.

Another one against Tottenham on Saturday afternoon would all but clear Marsch’s name from sacking talk, for the time being at least.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are set to jet out to Spain with a major decision being made behind the scenes at Elland Road.
