Leeds United: Jeff Stelling reacts to controversy in win v Leicester City at Elland Road

Jeff Stelling has admitted he “loved” watching as Leeds United beat Leicester 3-1 at Elland Road on Friday 23 February.

The talkSPORT host replied to Danny Baker asking how the home side managed to win, insisting that they would always score more if they got their first.

After Leicester wasted some second-half chances, Connor Roberts, Archie Gray and Patrick Bamford secured all three points for Leeds.

“What a game,” he wrote. “How did Leicester lose? Answer – because they were at Leeds and you knew if the home side got one, they would get more. Two excellent teams. Loved watching it.

He also responded to a fan talking about controversies in the game: “The result down to Leicester missing a lorry load of chances. And Leeds having unbelievable momentum once they scored.”

Leeds United going for the Championship title?

Wow, what an evening that was.

Elland Road has not looked like that in a very long time, with all four sides of the ground bouncing as soon as that Roberts goal went in.

After that, there only looked like being one winner and that turned out to be the case with Gray and Bamford making sure of a huge win.

In the grand scheme of things, it’s just another three points to Daniel Farke, but even he cannot deny the huge momentum that his side has right now over others.

Ipswich and Southampton may win again on Saturday 24 February to keep up, but they are playing nowhere near to the standard of Leeds right now.

As for any controversy, no one can complain that without VAR, football is much more enjoyable and it wasn’t as if many Leicester players were arguing about the decision at the time.

Craig Pawson had a shocker, for both sides, but it is Leeds who are marching on right now.

In other Leeds United news, the club are receiving “extra payments” but are still not happy in a running feud, says Phil Hay.
