Leeds United: Jeff Stelling and Ally McCoist react live on talkSPORT to Connor Roberts comments

Jeff Stelling and Ally McCoist reacted live on air to Leeds United loanee Connor Roberts claiming his moustache is the key behind him being unbeaten in 25 Championship games.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Monday (25 March, 07:56), Stelling said the secret behind the run is that the Welsh international is playing for a successful team like the Whites and not bottom-of-the-league Rotherham United as he suggested the defender doesn’t have a “magic tash”.

But McCoist took on a different angle as he congratulated the 28-year-old right-back for his “lovely” facial hair, which has caught plenty of attention since he signed on loan from Burnley in January.

“The secret thing is that he’s playing for Leeds and not Rotherham,” said Stelling. “Of course, Leeds win games, I don’t think it’s about the magic tash.”

“It is a great tash,” replied McCoist. “That’s the first thing I’ve got to say, it’s a lovely wee tash. It reminds me of Terry Thomas in the Carry On films. I like it.”

Connor Roberts hoping facial hair can maintain unbeaten Leeds United record

While Roberts’s moustache probably doesn’t have anything to do with his impressive recent record in the Championship, Leeds will take anything that can help them get promoted this season.

The right-back spoke about how he’s hoping the facial hair can help Wales secure their place at the upcoming European Championships with a victory over Poland on Tuesday (26 March).

Although it is a bit of an unusual superstition, he’s certainly not alone in believing it will help his teams pick up victories as several players have similar quirks and traditions they follow before games.

The Welshman has emerged as one of the fans’ favourites in recent weeks at Elland Road despite not featuring too heavily, having popped up with a couple of important goal contributions.

He will be hoping to keep up his impressive unbeaten record over the next few weeks – with the help of his tash – to ensure the Whites earn promotion back to the Premier League this year.
