Leeds United injury news as Wilfried Gnonto kicked all over v Real Sociedad
Graham Smyth has shared another potential injury concern over Wilfried Gnonto after Leeds United picked up another win against Real Sociedad on 16 December.
Gnonto only started the fixture due to a Jack Harrison injury in Leeds United’s warm-up, nevertheless, the Italian certainly took his chance to shine.
Smyth confessed that Gnonto was “kicked all over” by a fierce Sociedad and put in a good shift before being taken off in the 77th minute, hopefully, to end any concerns.
“Good shift from the winger. Got kicked all over,” praised Smyth on Twitter.
With Harrison sitting out, Crysencio Summerville injured for the foreseeable and Luis Sinisterra still nowhere to be seen, a golden opportunity for Gnonto to grasp may have just fallen to his feet.
There is certainly a debate out for whether or not Victor Orta has done a decent job at Elland Road, but his scouting of Gnonto deserves some praise.
Marsch has been forced to use Gnonto against Sociedad and in previous Premier League games due to his supremely good talents.
The youngster will have undoubtedly had attention and preying vultures from around Europe trying to sign him, but Orta and co convinced him that Elland Road was the best place for him to progress.
With luck, Marsch will now allow the Italian to do this, his gritty performance against Sociedad will have only helped matters in him being picked for the 28 December clash v Manchester City.
The summer signing that no one saw coming or particularly wanted has turned out to be a decent bit of business, Gnonto looks to be improving every time he features for the Whites.
In other Leeds United news, talks are underway over this player quitting Elland Road for a high-paid contract.
