Leeds United injury news as Max Wober now ruled out for up to three weeks
Leeds United defender Max Wober is facing up to three weeks on the sidelines after suffering a dislocated shoulder against Everton, according to The Mirror [20 February, pg. 6].
The January signing was substituted off after 45 minutes as the Whites fell to a 1-0 defeat at Goodison Park, crashing into the Premier League relegation zone.
Wober has been ever-present since arriving from RB Salzburg in January, with Liam Cooper now likely to step back in alongside Robin Koch.
“Leeds also had problems after the game which saw them fall to a devastating defeat,” they wrote.
“Defender Max Wober was substituted after he dislocated his shoulder at Goodison Park, and could now be sidelined for two to three weeks.”
Wober was replaced by Rasmus Kristensen but he was unable to prevent Seamus Coleman from opening the scoring in the 64th minute.
Huge blow
A three-week absence would rule Wober out of a vital game against the only team who, on paper, have been worse than Leeds United this season and a trip to Chelsea, who lost to that Southampton side at the weekend.
The Austrian has been brilliant since coming in, even if the results haven’t shown it. There is a reason he immediately came into the side and stayed there.
Kristensen is such a downgrade on Wober and he had little to no effect on the game when he entered the pitch.
It seems that everything goes against you when you are at the wrong end of the table. Injuries have been a thorn in the side of Leeds this season and it looks like another one has hit right at the wrong time.
One saving grace is that Leeds’ attackers should face less resistance against Southampton than they did against Everton but the weakness in the defence is a major cause for concern.
