Leeds United injury news amid Max Wober update for crucial Bournemouth clash with three ruled out for Javi Gracia
Injury expert Ben Dinnery has issued an update on key Leeds United defender Max Wober ahead of the trip to face Bournemouth.
The Austrian has been “ruled out” with the hamstring issue that saw him miss the 1-1 draw with Leicester City on Tuesday night (25 April).
The January signing from Red Bull Salzburg picked up a new problem in the defeat to Fulham at the weekend, ending his return at one game after having previously been missing with injury since the international break.
But according to Dinnery’s Wednesday morning update on Twitter he will again be unavailable for the trip to the Vitality Stadium on Sunday (30 April).
On his Premier Injuries site Dinnery puts Wober alongside Tyler Adams and Stuart Dallas as “ruled out” with apparently no prospect of playing agains the Cherries.
Blow
Conceding just once to Jamie Vardy’s equaliser at Elland Road was a major improvement on some of the recent outings, with 13 shipped in the previous three games.
But it still meant that Leeds United recorded just a point when they needed three, and if Wober is out again for Bournemouth it is a major concern.
Liam Cooper’s return has been helpful, but things fell apart in a big way during his teammate’s original absence, and nobody has proven to have the same impact as him.
Adam’s long-term unavailability has left a huge hole in the midfield that Weston McKennie and Marc Roca have struggled badly to fill.
And while Cooper’s recent return to the line up has helped, Robin Koch, and certainly Pascal Struijk, have dropped off in a big way in defence.
Javi Gracia needs everyone he can call on to pull together over the final games of the season, although he is bafflingly still overlooking Willy Gnonto in attack when the Italian is available.
But options at the back are far more limited, and Wober is clearly the pick of the bunch this season so the manager needs a return as soon as possible if there is any chance.
