Leeds United injury for Kristoffer Klaesson as goalkeeper misses win v Barnsley - Phil Hay
Kristoffer Klaesson missed out as Leeds United beat Barnsley in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night due to injury, Phil Hay has reported.
Leeds’ assistant manager Rene Maric took up post-match press duties following Leeds’ 3-1 win over Barnsley at Elland Road and he shared a quickfire update on the injury situation within the West Yorkshire club.
The Athletic’s Hay relayed what Maric said via his personal Twitter account after the game on 24 August.
He wrote: “Klaesson had an injury and wasn’t fully fit. Maric says Bamford is developing well but not yet certain when he’ll be back. Happy with Cooper’s 45 minutes tonight.”
Unfortunate
Leeds fans haven’t been able to see much of Klaesson.

He’s been the club’s second-choice goalkeeper ever since joining from Valerenga last year but has only made one appearance for the Yorkshire club.
That came at Molineux last season when he replaced the injured Illan Meslier.
Klaesson will have no doubt been hoping to play for Leeds in their cup games this season and he would have surely started had he not been injured for the game against Barnsley.
Meslier had to play and new signing Joel Robles was only trusted to be on the bench.
Klaesson had made every single Leeds matchday squad since his arrival prior to his absense against the Tykes, which is a shame for him because he’d have wanted that full debut so badly.
We want to see what the Norway Under-21s international is capable of too and it’ll be far more worthwhile playing him in cup games than Robles.
Fortunately, we have Robles signed up already.
We needed that extra set of gloves in the squad and now he’s there, he can fill it on the bench if Klaesson’s injury rules him out of further games.
