Leeds United: Incredibly difficult to see way forward for Jesse Marsch

It’s incredibly difficult to see a way forward for Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch after the damning defeat to Nottingham Forest, according to Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth.

The report claims that Marsch’s retoric of his team being on the right track isn’t being backed up by evidence on the pitch for Leeds United.

Smyth confessed that the American will now be “severely tested” in a week where the Whites face Manchester United back to back.

“The results this season have not been good enough and his belief that they are on the right track is not being backed up by evidence,” said Smyth as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post. (6 February)

“When a head coach loses the fans, it’s incredibly difficult to see a way forward for him at a club. Marsch’s insistence that everyone is ‘aligned’ will be severely tested this week.”

Not wrong.

Fans will always be inpatient when it comes to managers and the Leeds United faithful have a right to be mythed at Marsch for recent results.

His record on paper screams relegation and it’s hard to back a man whose team continue to do the opposite of what he is saying in the press.

The next two games against Manchester United will be telling, Marsch’s side have often performed better this season against a higher calibre of opponent.

This may be the American’s saving grace in this one but failure to get any points from the fixtures will likely spell the end of his reign at Elland Road.

It’s a tricky one, as for all the flairy and attractive football the Whites have played recently something still just doesn’t seem right with what they are doing.

Signing’s have been made, big ones at that and you’d think if Marsch was the man for the job this would have changed his fortunes, especially against a less than impressive Nottingham Forest side.

The jury, however, is still out on Marsch but his team are still lacking a sense of belief and this is what is killing them in the Premier League at the moment.

In other Leeds United news, the club launched an audacious deadline day bid to bring in a midfielder on loan.
