Leeds United in transfer battle with Italian clubs to sign George Hall

Leeds United reportedly face competition from Italy and Spain in order to secure the services of Birmingham City midfielder George Hall this summer.

According to the Daily Mail [3 April], the 18-year-old is in demand from clubs in the Premier League as well with Leeds sending scouts to track his progress.

Liverpool are another club that want to sign the English midfielder and also sent their representatives to watch him in a 1-0 win over Blackburn Rovers over the weekend.

Inflated price soon?

Birmingham know that even though they want to retain his services for longer, the chances of that happening are minimal as there are a number of clubs keen.

If there’s a chance to play in the Premier League, Champions League or at a top European club, there’s no reason Hall will be against the move.

He may have to fight for his place in the team but that is the case with every top player these days and guaranteed starts are only handed to a select few.

He would also get the learn a lot at clubs like Leeds as they’ve got a proven track record of promoting youngsters to the first team.

While it may not be as glamorous a move as Liverpool, it’s certainly one that players at Hall’s age would consider as they’re going to get more minutes than he would at Anfield.

It remains to be seen where he does end up but it’s hard to see him staying at St Andrews beyond the end of the season.
