Leeds United in talks with Joel Robles over new Elland Road contract
Leeds United are locked in talks with goalkeeper Joel Robles over a new contract at Elland Road, according to Sky Sports.
The Whites board shared their released list on Tuesday (12 June), with Adam Forshaw and Robles named on it, however, both were still invited to train with the first team in pre-season.
Fabrizio Romano previously reported (9 May) that more than two European clubs were interested in signing the Spanish shot-stopper this summer.

“Leeds United are in talks with midfielder Adam Forshaw and goalkeeper Joel Robles over new deals,” Sky Sports wrote on their live transfer blog [12 June, 19:50]
“Both were on the list of players due to be released by the club when their contract expire, but Sky Sports News has been told that negotiations are taking place to tie them down to new contracts.”

Strong option to keep
Although Robles hasn’t seen much game time in his one year at Elland Road, he looked like a safe and dependable pair of hands in the closing stages of the season.
The ex-Everton stopper was always likely to be an understudy to Illan Meslier last year, but when the Frenchman went through a torrid patch of form, he used his experience to keep a cool head under immense relegation pressure.
Considering that Meslier could still leave the club this summer, keeping Robles on the books doesn’t look like a bad option whatsoever.
It would be hard to find a Championship number one with much more experience than the Spaniard, so it comes as no surprise to see the Whites still keeping an interest in his services.
The final decision is likely to come down to whoever is brought into the club as manager. Once this position and the sporting director role are filled, decisions on the likes of Robles, Forshaw, and many others will be made.
In other Leeds United news, Kieran Maguire has reported that there is doubt within the 49ers group over the takeover after “expensive” relegation.
