Leeds United are looking to recover from a poor end to the transfer window in their bid to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Although Paraag Marathe and Co. have been criticised this summer, the 49ers have added ten new faces to Daniel Farke's Leeds squad.

The lack of deadline day activity led to criticism of sporting director Adam Underwood, as the fanbase's optimism for the new campaign was slowly drained.

With Leeds maxing out their PSR, the Whites are looking for other ways they can add to Farke's set-up.

Leeds United in the process of hiring a set-piece coach

Given the focus on height and physicality in this summer's recruitment, Leeds must be stronger.

The Yorkshire Evening Post reported on 4 September that the Whites are in the process of hiring a set-piece coach, something that hasn't yet been in place during Farke's reign.

Given how blunt Leeds have been up top, they need to maximise every marginal gain possible and scoring more often from set-pieces would be a perfect solution.

Heights of Leeds' new signings:

  • Anton Stach - 6'4"
  • Jaka Bijol - 6'3"
  • Lukas Nmecha - 6'1"
  • Dominic Calvert-Lewin - 6'2"
  • Sebastiaan Bornauw - 6'3"
  • Gabriel Gudmundsson - 5'11"
  • James Justin - 6'0"
  • Noah Okafor - 6'1"
  • Sean Longstaff - 5'11"
  • Lucas Perri - 6'6"

Leeds' only goal of the season so far came in the 1-0 win over Everton, with Lukas Nmecha opening his account from the penalty spot.

This should've been integrated in pre-season

Arsenal are a prime example of just how valuable set-piece coaches can be, and it is good to see Leeds following suit and putting effort into every last little detail.

However, the fact that a set-piece was not hired over the summer so they could begin to implement their tactics is mindblowing.

Effectively, Leeds now have to learn on the job when it comes to these set-piece routines as opposed to them already being second nature after being drilled tirelessly over the summer.

It may seem like a minute detail to have slipped up on, but these seem to keep adding up from the 49ers this summer.
