Leeds United in ‘rampant’ claim at Elland Road as Preston prediction emerges

Leeds United cannot afford further slip-ups as they prepare to face Preston North End on Saturday.

The Whites put an end to a three-game winless run and returned to the top of the Championship table with a 1-0 victory over Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium on Tuesday, 8 April.

Leeds will look to build on that win when they host Preston, who are placed 16th in the table, at Elland Road on 12 April

Preston are on a four-game winless run, but Daniel Farke’s side will be wary of taking them lightly, having only won one of their last five matches against them.

Leeds United to run rampant against Preston

Therefore, Leeds United must shake off their struggles against Preston if they want to claim all three points and keep their place atop the Championship table on Saturday.

Looking ahead to the game at Elland Road, Sam Parkin suggested that the Lilywhites will be determined to return to winning ways after QPR went above them in the table after their 3-1 win against Oxford United on Wednesday, 9 April.

However, that will not be enough to cause an upset in West Yorkshire, as Parkin expects Leeds to run “rampant” against Preston from the first whistle and earn a 3-0 victory.

“Preston now on, what, same points as QPR after their win in midweek”, Parkin said on Benjamin Bloom’s YouTube channel (10 April).

“No, I’m going to go for Leeds and I’m going to for Leeds to be rampant from the off into an early lead. 3-0.”

It would be the first time in over two months that Leeds have won a game by three goals or more.

Farke must make changes at Elland Road

Leeds feel they should have had two more goals against Middlesbrough as Ao Tanaka and Patrick Bamford had goals wrongly disallowed for offside.

However, there is no denying that performances from some players left much to be desired.

Brenden Aaronson and Joel Piroe were underwhelming once again and Farke must drop them against Preston if he wants to avoid any slip-ups in the promotion race.

Bamford, in particular, staked his claim to start against Preston with his cameo against Middlesbrough.

There is no reason why Piroe should start ahead of the Englishman when Paul Heckingbottom and Co. visit Elland Road this weekend.
