Leeds United in market as race hots up for Ryan Manning after Swansea City exit

Leeds United are in the market for a left back as the race heats up for former Swansea City left-back Ryan Manning, according to The Sun.

The 27-year-old is a free agent after leaving South Wales and is wanted by a number of Premier League and Championship clubs (The Sun, 29 June).

It’s believed Southampton, Sheffield United and Luton are monitoring the Republic of Ireland international after he netted five times and registered 10 assists during the 2022/23 season.

Overhaul

A new left-back is required.

Junior Firpo needs to leave Elland Road – and fast.

The former Barcelona man has been a woeful signing and hasn’t lived up to what we all expected. In the Championship, Leeds need tried and tested; Firpo certainly isn’t.

Manning is an excellent age and has proven himself to be one of the best left-backs in the second tier.

On the other side, a right back could also be required with Rasmus Kristensen set to depart the club on loan.

Roma are reportedly close to landing the Dane, with there being the potential for a permanent exit at some point in the future.

If he departs, then another right back to compete with Luke Ayling will be required. There’s also Cody Drameh to consider, however, the former Luton loanee will be seeking first-team assurances if he is to remain at Elland Road.

With Daniel Farke now closing in on the managerial vacancy, hopefully, the ball can finally get rolling on the transfer front.

In other Leeds United news, the club have been handed a boost to sign a Manchester United player this summer with Erik ten Hag likely to sanction his exit.
