Leeds United in hunt to sign Bristol City midfielder Alex Scott, club demand £12m

Leeds United are still interested in signing Bristol City midfielder Alex Scott who has a “realistic” chance of leaving the club in the January window, as reported by Ben Jacobs.

The CBS Sport Golazo journalist shared on Twitter that he has been “told” Bristol City are looking for a fee of around £12m, and that his price tag could be a big stumbling block for potential suitors.

Bournemouth, Wolves, Leicester, Brighton and Tottenham are all tracking the 19-year-old midfielder along with Leeds to sign him in January.

Jacobs wrote on Twitter: “Several Premier League clubs are looking at 19-year-old Bristol City midfielder Alex Scott. Told there is a realistic possibility of a sale in January but price an issue. Bristol City want £12m. Bournemouth, Wolves, Leicester, Leeds, Brighton & Spurs all tracking Scott.”

The Mirror reported on 23 April that Leeds were interested in signing the youngster and it seems they are still tracking Scott’s progress.

Replacement for Klich?

Scott is a terrific young talent who has done extremely well for Bristol City over the past 18 months.

Despite his tender age, he is a regular at the club. The central midfielder has made 25 appearances for the club in the Championship this season, managing four assists.

Blessed with exceptional technical abilities, the youngster, who can play on the right, is very good at blocking and ball interception.

Obviously, he is not the finished product but the talent is there. At a top Premier League, under a good manager, he is bound to get better.

Leeds could bring him to Elland Road as a possible replacement for Mateusz Klich will jet out to the USA after he confirmed that he will leave the club in January.

The Polish midfielder played his final game for the club in the 2-2 draw against West Ham in the Premier League on Wednesday (4 January).

Tyler Adams and Marc Roca have formed a good partnership in the centre of the midfield, but Leeds do need to replace Klich in the long run, and Scott would be a superb addition.

Over to you, Victor Orta.

In other Leeds United news, Victor Orta could make moves to sign this MLS defender in either the summer or January and it won’t break the bank.
