Leeds United in ‘endless crisis’ as Weston McKennie permanent transfer development emerges

Leeds United are in “endless crisis” and must find a resolution to the future of Weston McKennie, according to Calciomercato.

The USA international joined the Whites on loan from Serie A side Juventus in January, and has made 17 appearances for his temporary team.

But McKennie’s future at both clubs is up in the air as the season rapidly draws to a close.

“Leeds seem to have entered an endless crisis, between one change of coach and another now the championship is a spectre that takes shape day after day,” according to Calciomercato.

“And Juve in turn are in trouble. Because without salvation, in addition to the premier, Weston McKennie’s redemption for Leeds should also vanish, with Juve having to find a new solution and give up at least temporarily those €34.5million plus €4.5million in bonuses provided for in the January agreement.”

Tough time for McKennie

McKennie was basically thrown in at the deep end at Leeds with his January move, with the midfielder handed a tough task in trying to help steady the midfield at Elland Road.

There is clearly a very talented player there, with McKennie showing this at parent club Juventus and with the USA national team.

He is definitely too good to be playing Championship football, but a permanent stay at Leeds seems very unlikely regardless of where the Whites finish this season.

McKennie has undoubtedly missed the presence of compatriot Tyler Adams beside him in defensive midfield in recent months, with the latter currently sidelined with injury.

It really could have been a different story for Leeds had Adams been fit, but fans still hold hope that they can stay in the Premier League, with Sam Allardyce needing to pull off another relegation miracle.

The future of McKennie will be of little worry to Allardyce, with the boss simply wanting the player to give his all on the pitch in the coming weeks.

In other Leeds United news, Tony Dorigo has predicted Allardyce to use one player in an unfamiliar role in the upcoming Premier League clash against Newcastle (13 May).
