Leeds United in ‘curveball’ claim ahead of Luton clash amid ‘El Colapso’ fears

Leeds United will be keen to ensure they do not drop more points when they face Luton Town in the Championship on Saturday.

The Elland Road outfit looked destined to earn promotion to the Premier League as Championship winners, but have fallen two points behind Sheffield United after dropping nine points in their last five games.

Having played out draws in their last two fixtures, Leeds will be determined to return to winning ways when they lock horns with Luton at Kenilworth Road on 5 April.

The Hatters are placed second-last in the Championship, but are making a late push to avoid relegation, winning three and drawing one of their last five games.

Therefore, the trip to Kenilworth Road is guaranteed to prove to be tricky for Daniel Farke and Co.

Leeds United in El Colapso territory

With Burnley sitting level on points at third, it is imperative that Leeds United do not throw away more points cheaply, as they did against Swansea last Saturday (29 March).

Sam Parkin is of the view that the Whites have the chance to throw a “curveball” at their rivals with a convincing win at LU4 on Saturday.

However, the former Championship ace doubts that it will be the case, although he expects the Elland Road outfit to claim a narrow win nevertheless.

“Luton-Leeds, have they turned a corner? I don’t know”, Parkin said on Benjamin Bloom’s YouTube channel (2 April).

“I just think, for everyone, it would be just another curveball, another head-scratcher if Leeds were to go there and win convincingly.

“I don’t think they will, but I’m going to go for Leeds. I’m going to go for Leeds by a goal to nil.”

Meanwhile, Bloom has also tipped Leeds to claim all three points against Luton.

However, he warned the West Yorkshire outfit that they are on the verge of entering “El Colapso” territory.

“I’m also going to go for Leeds”, Bloom said.

“I can’t see… what would that be? Five dropped points in six games, this is proper El Colapso territory now.”

Karl Darlow to start ahead of Illan Meslier

Farke appears to be aware of the challenge ahead of him as he has decided that enough is enough with Illan Meslier after his disastrous performance against Swansea.

The German tactician has been upfront about his decision to start Karl Darlow ahead of Meslier against Luton, having decided to take his first-choice goalkeeper out of the firing line.

He will be hopeful that the change will give the Leeds United players some much-needed assurance at the back as they look to keep their place in the top two of the Championship.

The Whites will be happy to take all three points at Kenilworth Road, regardless of how scrappy things get.
