Leeds United in a relegation battle according to Gabby Agbonlahor

Gabby Agbonlahor believes that Leeds United are in a relegation battle after their poor start to the Premier League season.

Speaking on talkSPORT, the former Aston Villa man turned pundit revealed that he is bored of people calling the Whites entertaining to watch.

He also believes that they are in a relegation battle because of the way Leeds defend, despite being just six games into the season.

He said: “You need to be able to defend to get results in the Premier League. It’s not all about running forward and leaving two for two [as] they did for the winner [West Ham’s winning goal].

“It’s kamikaze defending week in, week out.

“It’s boring when I hear people say ‘it’s entertaining’. If I am a Leeds fan, I’m thinking, ‘yeah, I want to be entertained, but I want to stay in the league’.

“Leeds are in a relegation battle for me. The way they are playing, the way they are conceding goals.”

Are Leeds really in a relegation battle?

We are just six games into the season, and though the Whites haven’t started well, we wouldn’t say they were in a relegation battle just yet.

They haven’t defended well in many games, but they have been without almost all of their centre-backs for a majority of the campaign.

Diego Llorente and Robin Koch have played three league games between them this season, and you would think once these two return, things should improve for the Whites.

There are certainly worse teams than them in the league, and, unfortunately, they are missing key players.

Looking at the Whites’ defensive record with Llorente in the side last season, you can see that Leeds were much better defensively [transfermarkt].

So, once he returns, we believe that Leeds will be fine.

However, if they continue struggling even when all their players are back, then we will be worried.

In other Leeds United news, Michael Owen has made a ridiculous claim on one Whites man.
