Leeds United: ‘Impossible’ Pascal Struijk injury news emerges at Elland Road

Pascal Struijk is set to return to full training at Leeds United during the upcoming international break, although he will find it hard to break into the starting XI, according to Beren Cross.

The Leeds Live journalist reported on 12 March that, given the impressive partnership of Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon in defence, it is impossible to see Daniel Farke separating them.

Before his injury, Struijk was a nailed-on starter under Farke’s leadership, but Ampadu has made the position his own while filling in, with Ilia Gruev moving into midfield.

When will Pascal Struijk return from injury for Leeds United?

The defender suffered an adductor injury which ruled him out for multiple weeks but with that return now in sight and a return to training expected during the next international break, Farke will be relieved to have such a consistent performer back and available.

Rodon’s performances have been so impressive that he has been heavily tipped with a permanent stay at Elland Road, particularly after his recent comments suggesting he would like to stay, and his place in the starting team is almost unchangeable.

Ampadu, meanwhile, has been one of the most consistent performers in the Championship this season at Elland Road and has become a key part of the team under Farke, whether he starts in midfield or at the back.

Struijk will now have to make the most of any opportunities that fall his way, whether it be through rotation or injuries, as he looks to reclaim his starting spot. There are certainly worse problems for the manager to have.
