Leeds United: Illan Meslier laughs at Patrick Bamford joke to entire squad
Illan Meslier was spotted laughing at a joke about Patrick Bamford in front of the entire Leeds United squad.
As the players were boarding the coach back to West Yorkshire following a 2-0 win at Plymouth Argyle on Saturday (17 February), the squad were seen shaking hands and greeting a young supporter.
The man filming the warm embrace could be heard saying; “Don’t tell them your favourite player’s Patrick Bamford, he’s not here!” in a tweet posted by All Day LUFC (18 February).
Whites forward Bamford was unavailable for Leeds due to injury and goalkeeper Meslier could not help giving a chuckle at hearing the quip.
Leeds United unity on display as Illan Meslier laughs at Patrick Bamford joke
The first thing to love about this clip is the fact that the Leeds players took time to greet the young supporter.
It might seem such an innocuous thing to give praise for but how often do you see overpaid primadonnas just ignore fans of all ages when they are to board a bus or heading into changing rooms etc?
So fair play to this squad for taking the time to acknowledge a young supporter and making their day.
Moreover, Meslier laughing at the quip about Bamford shows that there is such a unity about this team right now. And, frankly, why wouldn’t there be? Leeds have now won eight straight Championship games to sit second in the table, albeit third-place Southampton have a game in hand.
Everyone seems to be pulling in the right direction and that can only be a good thing as Leeds aim to get the job done and secure an immediate return to the Premier League.
