Leeds hope centre-mid can return from injury for clash v West Brom - report

Leeds United hope that Jamie Shackelton can make his long-awaited return from injury this week, according to LeedsLive.

The news outlet claims that the Whites hope Shackleton, 20, will be ready to be named in the squad that will face West Brom at The Hawthorns on Wednesday.

Shackleton has made just one appearance since the start of October due to two different injury issues.

The young central midfielder is back in training but was left out of the squad that travelled to Birmingham on Sunday.

However there is a chance he could be among those who make their way to The Hawthorns on New Years Day.

Leeds need as many of their players as fit as possible ahead of the clash against West Brom.

Tyler Roberts returned from his injury at Birmingham on Sunday but Shackleton, Adam Forshaw and Pablo Hernandez all missed that game.

Leeds have a real shortage of options in the centre of their midfield with winger Stuart Dallas playing there in recent fixtures.

Although Dallas has scored two goals in his last two, there is no doubt that Marcelo Bielsa would rather have a natural central player in that role so the Northern Ireland international can return to the wing or full-back role.

In other Leeds United news, fans are still gushing over this player who released his “inner Mbappe” against Birmingham on Sunday.
