Leeds United hold initial talks with Daniel Farke as manager hunt takes fresh twist
Leeds United have held talks with former Norwich manager Daniel Farke about the vacant job at Elland Road, according to Sport1 journalist Patrick Berger.
The Whites are set to push ahead with their hunt for a new manager after Sam Allardyce left at the end of the last campaign, with the 49ers finally agreeing a deal with Andrea Radrizzani to complete their takeover.
Several names have been linked with the role in recent weeks, but now German coach Farke has emerged as a contender and according to Berger initial talks have already been held about his appointment but they will be competing with Champions League club Celtic for his services.

“Leeds United and Celtic are both interested in signing Daniel Farke (46/German) who is ready to take over a new club after his time at Borussia Monchengladbach,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account (10 June).
“Both clubs have enquired about him. Initial talks took place.”
Uninspired
Farke is an attacking coach who has done really well in the Championship before with Norwich, but that didn’t translate well in the Premier League and he got absolutely demolished.
While it may seem like a solid short-term appointment, the ultimate plan for the club has to be to get into the Premier League and then be ready to stay there again rather than battle not to come straight back down.

Leeds have been linked with the likes of Steven Gerrard and Scott Parker recently and while there’s no doubting that the pool of mangers is much more shallow now that we’re in the Championship and not the Premier League, fans are unlikely to be excited by these potential appointments.
But with that said, if Celtic want Farke too they obviously consider him to be good enough for their Champions League campaign and the hope would be that he has learned and improved since his last stint in England.
In other Leeds news, a Euro giant has been watching this Leeds starlet for a “long time” ahead of a potential £10m move.
