Leeds United hijack for Brendan Rodgers fails as manager news emerges
Leeds United have been KO’d in their last-minute hijack to appoint Brendan Rodgers as their new manager, according to the Daily Record.
The Scottish newspaper has reported on its back page today [14 June] that the Northern Irishman is instead set to take over at Celtic with the path clear.
The 49ers Enterprises, described as “Moneybags” were said to be attempting to throw a spanner in the works overnight of that potential move, which looks to have failed.

Writing in his latest feature, Keith Jackson wrote: “Brendan Rodgers last night cleared the pathway to an imminent appointment as Celtic boss by slamming the door on an 11th-hour hijack bid from Leeds.
Further into the report, they stated: “It’s now anticipated Leeds will begin a formal interview process with four back-up candidates.”

Rethink.
It looks as though the 49ers Enterprises have seen their main plan thrown out of the window already, with the race now blown up for our next manager.
With four new candidates set to be formally interviewed before the announcement, it looks as though there could be an unnamed person in the race.
Sky Sports shared on 13 June that Carlos Corberan, Daniel Farke and Scott Parker were in the race, meaning there is one other manager still in the race.
With Rodgers said to have KO’d the hijack from Leeds overnight, the offices at Elland Road will be busier than ever this morning ahead of a huge week.
Paraag Marathe and Angus Kinnear look to be running the application process, and we should know by this time next week who will be guiding us into the new Championship season.
The fixtures are imminent, who will be leading the club into them?
