Leeds United hierarchy verdict as out of court settlement agreed at Elland Road
Leeds United face the major task of trying to stay in the Premier League this season, as the quality of competition hits an all-time high.
Daniel Farke and his men will be fighting tooth and nail for every point they can get this season to avoid the same relegation fate of 2023 in the Premier League.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin arrived at Elland Road this summer to bolster their attacking options, and scored in Leeds’ 3-1 victory against Wolves on Saturday.
Farke wants to keep Leeds in the Premier League, but understands the huge task in front of everyone connected at the West Yorkshire club.
The Whites aren’t only fighting on the pitch, but also off it, as a lengthy financial dispute with Everton seems to have finally concluded.

Leeds will not pursue further legal claims against Everton
Everton were found to have breached the Premier League’s Profit & Sustainability Rules (PSR) during the 2021/22 season.
Leeds were involved in a relegation battle that season, where they narrowly stayed up, and the argument was that Everton’s financial overspending may have given them some unfair sporting advantage.
Club | Position | Points |
Everton | 16 | 39 |
Leeds | 17 | 38 |
Burnley | 18 | 35 |
Watford | 19 | 23 |
Norwich | 20 | 22 |
Everton were not deducted points until the following season, allowing them to finish one place higher in the Premier League that year, which led to more merit payments.
Now, as reported by The Athletic, Leeds will not pursue the claim any further, as an out-of-court agreement has been reached between themselves and Everton.
It is said the Elland Road hierarchy did not believe their case was strong enough to take to court, with sources sharing that the matter is now finished for good after the settlement.

Leeds hierarchy can now focus on the Premier League season ahead
In the summer, Farke expressed his concerns over a lack of transfer activity.
Fellow relegation rivals Sunderland spent a reported £150million-plus in the summer transfer window in their bid to stay in the big time.
It’s not yet seen whether or not Leeds will benefit massively from the settlement.
But one thing Leeds fans can now expect is full focus from the club’s hierarchy in the attempts to keep the Whites in England’s top-flight.
