Leeds United: Pablo Hernandez reacts to Luke Ayling contract news on Instagram
Former Leeds United maestro Pablo Hernandez has reacted to the news of Luke Ayling’s new contract on Instagram sending the defender a congratulatory message.
The Athletic reported on 16 February that Leeds United had decided to exercise the option of extending Ayling’s contract with the club, which has since been confirmed.
The 31-year-old will now remain at Elland Road until June 2024 something which obviously delighted Hernandez by the looks of things.

“Yes,” said Hernandez on his personal Instagram page followed by two blue and yellow love hearts.
Ayling has emerged as an important player for Leeds United during a rough spell following the sacking of Jesse Marsch from the club.

Nice touch.
The inconsistent form of summer signing Rasmus Kristensen has seen Ayling emerge as a Leeds United starter in recent weeks and he’s stepped up to the plate.
These very performances seemed to push the club into action and offer the veteran defender a new and improved contract.
This seems like a solid move for all parties involved and whilst offering Ayling wouldn’t have been seen as a top priority for most fans, it’s the right decision to make.
It will be interesting to see how Ayling performs in his post-new contract era, with luck, this will only enhance the fairly decent performances he’s been putting in.
Nevertheless, the club should still look towards signing a new and improved right-back in the summer, Ayling has been a terrific club servant but some fresh ideas in that position are needed.
Perhaps whoever the new manager is will look towards Cody Drameh to solve this conundrum.
