Leeds United have 'unfinished business' in Azzedine Ounahi race

Leeds United have “unfinished business” in their bid to sign Morocco World Cup star Azzedine Ounahi, according to the Daily Express’ Ryan Taylor.

Calciomercato journalist Alessio Lento had suggested the Yorkshire side had denied showing any interest in landing the 22-year-old.

However, Taylor has since suggested the race is still very much “open” with Napoli also keen on the dynamic Angers midfielder.

“There is a case, with Ounahi, that there could be unfinished business there after the first offer,” said the Daily Express journalist (18 January, GIVEMESPORT).

“I know Napoli are very keen and there was some suggestion that PSG were actually closing in on the player, but that never seemed to happen, so it looks like an open race at the moment.”

Waiting game

This feels like a transfer saga which could continue right up until the window slams shut. Ounahi is a man in demand and he would certainly be a quality addition for Leeds if he did decide to make the move to Elland Road.

After Mateusz Klich’s departure, another midfielder has suddenly become more of a priority for the American. Tyler Adams and Marc Roca are his go-to partnership in the middle of the park, but a player who can drive forward and add more of an attacking threat should certainly be on the agenda for Jesse Marsch.

It’s been a promising first half of the January window for Leeds with the club breaking their transfer record to sign Hoffenheim’s Georginio Rutter, whilst also signing RB Salzburg utility man Max Wober.

With just under two weeks left in the window, it remains to be seen if Marsch will look to strengthen his squad further heading into the second half of the Premier League season.

In other Leeds United news, this player has jetted into the UK with his dad to be toured around Thorp Arch before signing for the Whites.
