Leeds United have no intention to sell Illan Meslier to Manchester United

Leeds United have no intention to sell Illan Meslier to Manchester United this summer, as per The Atheltic.

The website reported on 12 August that Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag would be keen to sign a new goalkeeper that can genuinely challenge David De Gea.

The club is ready to spend big if there’s a player available, and work behind the scenes has intensified.

Meslier has been earmarked as a potential option, but the Whites are not even thinking about selling him.

No way

The transfers between Leeds and Manchester United haven’t gone down well over the years.

However, the Whites did sign Dan James from Manchester United last summer, but there’s no way Leeds will see Meslier.

The French goalkeeper has established himself as the club’s first-choice under Marcelo Bielsa. He has gradually developed his leadership skills at the back.

While the stats do not give a good reading as Leeds conceded a huge amount of goals last season, Meslier can hardly be blamed for that. He is a smart goalkeeper, capable of making outstanding saves.

Having sold two key players in Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha, Leeds do not need to part ways with any of their key players this summer.

Having said that, every player has a price, and if United come up with a massive bid next summer, the Whites could be tempted to do business to sustain their financial model.

At the moment, Meslier is going nowhere. United can either look for options elsewhere or come up with a massive bid next summer.
