Leeds United handed blow in their pursuit of Neco Williams
Leeds United are unlikely to be able to sign Neco Williams after The Athletic claimed that the Welshman is likely to stay with Liverpool.
The Whites were linked with a move for Williams earlier this summer by The Athletic, but now it appears as if he will be staying at Anfield rather than moving on.
The Reds were said to be looking for £10million for the Welsh right-back, and Leeds were one of four Premier League clubs credited with an interest in Williams.
A blow for the Whites?
The 20-year-old is behind arguably one of the best right-backs in the world in Trent Alexander-Arnold, so it was no surprise to see him linked with a move away.
However, it doesn’t seem as if he will be going anywhere, which could be seen as a blow for the Whites.
Leeds only really have Luke Ayling as a first-team right-back though they do have Stuart Dallas, who can fill in or the youngster Cody Drameh as options as well.
However, you would have thought that Williams could have been an ideal signing for Leeds and could have developed under Marcelo Bielsa.
He has a decent amount of international experience and has been described as “outstanding” by Ryan Giggs in the past [Sky Sports].
Of course, Williams might become available in January or perhaps next summer, but this seems like it could be one deal for Whites fans to forget about for now.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites have made a breakthrough in their pursuit of one player.
