Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier valuation emerges as he makes Tottenham Hotspur shortlist
Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier will cost Tottenham Hotspur in the region of £35million as they want to replace Hugo Lloris over the summer.
According to TEAMtalk journalist Graeme Bailey [8 November], the other two keepers on their shortlist are Everton’s Jordan Pickford and Brighton number one Robert Sanchez.
Of these options, Pickford appears to be the most attainable option for Antonio Conte while Meslier and Sanchez are likely to cost similar fees for the Champions League outfit.
Leeds are sitting on potentially the future France number one for the next decade or so and they surely cannot accept such a low transfer fee.
While Meslier is one of their most important players, the fact of the matter is that every player has a price tag, but the Frenchman’s is not that less.
He would certainly cost north of £50million, given how good he already is at the relatively young age of 22 for a goalkeeper.
He’s shown great maturity in goal, has commanded his defence well and is the perfect modern-day goalkeeper that any manager would love to have.
We will really be surprised if more clubs are not in for the Frenchman and Leeds must try and do everything they can to hike his price up as much as possible if he does want to leave.
Thus far, it does not seem like he’s thinking of a future away from Elland Road so that will be welcome news for fans but things could change if Spurs or some other big Champions League club make their intentions clear.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites could now be looking to sign an award-winning Ligue 1 ace and bring him to Elland Road in January.
